FAITH PAJAMAS

My grandmother had a pair of pajamas and a robe that were very pretty as well as comfortable. But she never wore them. She kept them in reserve because, as she said, “You just never know when you’ll need to go to the hospital. You need to have a nice pair of pajamas ready.”

I know there are times when I reserve my faith in the same way. Instead of dressing in it every day, I save it for a time of crisis. Then I pull it out, wear it for a few days or weeks, and return it to the closet. But God doesn’t intend for my faith to be kept tucked away until difficulties occur. He wants me to wear my faith pajamas all the time. They should be so well worn—so comfortable and familiar—that when a crisis arrives, I will already be clothed in peace and strength. Well-worn pajamas may not be as pretty as new ones, but there is nothing more comforting and reassuring.

Time to Steep

Are my faith pajamas well-worn and comfortable or do I need to take them out of the closet?

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart."
                                                                             Proverbs 3:3 (NIV)
